RECERCAT: As in previous years, NJLM took part in 'Recercat' (Jornada de Cultura i Recerca Local) the fair for Cultural and Local Research. This year the fair went to Perpignan (France) the 17th May. More information available (in Catalan) at the Institut Ramon Muntaner website. |

NJLM Goes Back To School! Actually, this is strictly not true as the school, in the form (!) of 4th of ESO (IES PRIORAT), came to us in Marįā. The Spanish Civil War is studied at this level. It was thought, by NJLM and the teachers, that it would be a bit more interesting if the students approached at the war in a more personalised way by looking at it in their area; Priorat. This meant studying the International Brigades who were 'parked' in 'Chabola Valley' before the battle of the Ebro. The teachers formed the students into groups, giving them the names of different International divisions and they prepared questions previous to the visit. On Thursday 15th May they came to Marçà to ask Angela Jackson and John Butler these questions. It was an interesting experience with two 'foreigners' answering questions from the students of the area about Priorat history. Afterwards, there was a trip down to John Cookson's grave. The feedback received from both teachers and students was that it was a very positive experience. |

Presentation in Falset of the book "Els Brigadistes entre nosaltres" The public filled the hall in the Library 'Salvador Estrem' during the presentation of the Catalan translation of 'At the Margins of Mayhem', the latest book by Angela Jackson. During the following weeks, the exhibition 'Prelude to the Last Battle: The International Brigades in the Priorat, 1938' was also displayed in the Library. |

(Sala Polivalent, Marçà) Tribute to International Brigader Alun Menai Williams: A showing of the documentary about his return visit to the Battle of the Ebro sites in 2005, "Viatge de Retorn". Presentation by Anna Martí. Examples of video interviews being carried out by NJLM in preparation for a new documentary. Round Table discussion on experiences and memories of the Civil War.
